CONSULAR PROCESS
Consular Processing is the procedure for bringing eligible family members to the US. The Department of Homeland Security only recognizes the spouse, minor children and parents of a US citizen as "immediate relatives". A citizen's adult son / daughter / sibling is outside the immediate family circle and must apply for a visa under the family preference system and wait until a visa becomes available. There is no visa category for an uncle, niece, cousin or grandparent.
A permanent resident's "immediate relatives" are only his spouse and minor children. The adult son / daughter of a resident must apply for a visa under the family preference schedule and wait until a visa becomes available. There is no visa category for the parents of a resident.
The goal of the Burchinow Immigration Law Firm is to keep families together. We are proud to say that 100% of our consular processing cases have been approved.
