Helping Clients Secure Family Immigration Visas
If you are a permanent resident or citizen of the United States, you can bring your family members to the country. Not all family relationships are eligible to apply for lawful permanent residence. Relatives fall in two major categories under the Immigration and Naturalization Act. Those include:
Immediate Relatives:
- Minor children who are unmarried and under the age of 21.
- Parents if you are a citizen and at least 21 years old.
- Recently widowed spouses, children, or battered immigrant spouses and children.
Preference Immigrants:
- Unmarried sons and daughters of citizens over 21.
- Spouses and unmarried minor children of lawful permanent residents or unmarried sons and daughters of permanent residents over 21.
- Married sons and daughters of United States citizens, including their spouse and unmarried minor children.
- Brothers and sisters of United States citizens if at least 21, including the sibling’s spouse and/or unmarried children under 21.
